3rd November 2026 – (Hong Kong) A residential unit at Merlin Court, 42 Broadcast Drive on Beacon Hill in Kowloon Tong, caught fire at about 3.16pm. Residents and a security guard from a nearby building raised the alarm, prompting a swift response from the Fire Services Department. Firefighters deployed one hose line and a breathing apparatus team and brought the blaze under control by around 3.35pm.

Thick smoke was seen billowing from the flat’s windows and orange flames were visible inside as passers‑by and construction workers looked on from the street. Large numbers of residents evacuated to an open area outside the building; among them, a neighbour was seen carrying a small dog to safety. No injuries were reported.

After the fire was extinguished, firefighters entered the affected unit to conduct an initial investigation. Early indications suggest that combustible miscellaneous items inside the flat may have ignited, leading to the incident.
