29th March 2023 – (Singapore) Five restaurants from Hong Kong have made it to Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2023 list, including The Chairman (No.13), Neighbourhood (No.29), Wing (No.37), Mono (No.41), and Caprice (No.49). However, all five restaurants have dropped in their rankings this year while 8 1/2 Otto e Mezzo Bombana was excluded from the list.
The list was unveiled on 28th March in a ceremony held at The Ballroom at Resorts World Sentosa in Singapore where more than 800 guests from around the world attended. Bangkok’s Le Du has taken the top spot this year, followed by Sezanne in Tokyo, Nusara in Bangkok, and Den in Tokyo. Singapore’s Odette remains the highest-ranking entrant in Singapore at number six.
Singapore had nine establishments appearing on the list, and most of them rose to higher positions than the year before. Other special awards of the evening included the inaugural Beronia Asia’s Best Sommelier award, which went to Della Tang of Ensue in Shenzhen; the Flor de Cana Sustainable Restaurant award, which went to Manila’s Toyo Eatery; the Highest New Entry award, which went to Chennai’s Avartana; and the Icon award, which went to chef Shinobu Namae of Tokyo’s L’Effervescence. The event marks the 10th anniversary of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants, which debuted in Singapore in 2013 and has since been held in various other Asian cities.
