2nd October 2026 – (Hong Kong) NeNe Chicken has ceased operations across Hong Kong, marking the Korean fried chicken chain’s withdrawal from the market after a decade‑long run. The closure came to light after users on Threads shared an image from dining platform OpenRice showing every branch labelled as closed, while the brand’s Facebook and Instagram pages have not been updated since late February. NeNe Chicken launched locally in 2016 with a debut shop at Langham Place in Mong Kok, fronted by endorsements from Korean television host Yoo Jae‑suk and a menu built around sweet‑and‑spicy, onion and “cheese snow” fried chicken, which initially drew long queues and helped spark a Korean fried chicken craze.
Riding early momentum, the company expanded rapidly with branches in Tsim Sha Tsui, Causeway Bay, Yuen Long, Kwai Fong, Tseung Kwan O, Sham Shui Po, Tai Po and Ma On Shan, taking its Hong Kong network to eight at its height. However, the final Ma On Shan store and the brand’s Korean dining concepts at K11’s The Jang food court closed in recent months, culminating in a full exit.
