MORA

14th March 2024 – (Hong Kong) The revered Michelin Guide has unveiled its much-anticipated 2024 selection for Hong Kong and Macao, spotlighting the region’s gastronomic excellence. Seven new entries have been awarded one Michelin star each, showcasing the innovative and diverse culinary scene that continues to flourish in these cities.

Among the new one-star recipients is Mora, a restaurant that celebrates the versatility of soy in its myriad forms. Located on Upper Lascar Row in Sheung Wan, Mora has swiftly gained acclaim for its unique approach to this humble ingredient. The Legacy House at Rosewood Hong Kong has similarly been recognized, joining the constellation of starred establishments that represent the pinnacle of dining in the region.

The Michelin Guide’s 2024 edition for Hong Kong and Macao features an expansion of the one-star category, indicating a vibrant restaurant scene that thrives despite the industry’s challenges. The new entrants join the ranks of distinguished eateries that have consistently delivered exceptional experiences to their patrons.

The new additions to the one-star list include:

  • Mora (Upper Lascar Row, Sheung Wan)
  • The Legacy House (Rosewood Hong Kong)
  • Cristal Room by Anne-Sophie Pic (Gloucester Tower, Central)
  • Feuille (The Wellington, Central)
  • Racines (Upper Station Street, Sheung Wan)
  • Chef Tam’s Seasons (Wynn Palace, Macao)

The unveiling of the new Michelin Guide also highlights the transient nature of the restaurant industry. While new stars are born, some establishments have had to close their doors. Notably, three restaurants that had previously earned Michelin stars announced their closure, including The Araki, which had consistently held one star for three years, D.H.K, which had just celebrated its first star last year, and Ecriture, a French restaurant that had maintained two stars for five years.
