3rd October 2026 – (Hong Kong) Television host Bob Lam Shing‑bun said he would not hide his eldest daughter, Faye, from public view despite a spate of comments targeting her appearance and style. Speaking on Sharon Chan’s online talk show Chi Chat, Lam questioned why some users urged him to “keep his daughter out of sight”, arguing that parental protection should not mean shielding children from normal social settings they will inevitably face.

Lam, who has three daughters and a son with his wife Pearl, described the recent discussion around Faye’s looks, physique and clothing as baffling. He said he remains proud of how calmly she has handled the remarks, noting that her demeanour is positive and composed. He added that if children observe how their parents conduct themselves, they will naturally absorb those values without the need for constant lecturing.

The presenter credited his wife’s upbeat outlook and said the couple strives to lead by example in raising their children. For Lam, the most meaningful safeguard parents can provide is to help build inner strength, courage, self‑respect and confidence so that young people can face others with assurance. He said any decision about whether Faye might enter the entertainment industry remains undecided.

Faye has also addressed the scrutiny directly on social media, sharing monochrome photos and a message encouraging young women to value their bodies beyond surface appearance and weight. Commentary around public exposure on social platforms continues to divide opinion. Advocates of a more cautious approach say that high visibility can attract unwelcome attention, while others argue that individuals—especially young women—should not be policed for their clothing or confidence and that the focus should be on promoting respectful dialogue and media literacy.
