24th April 2023 – (Hong Kong) The Home Affairs Department (HAD) has announced the hosting of three “Happy Hong Kong” Gourmet Marketplaces, which will take place in April, May, and June. The events will be held on Hong Kong Island, in the New Territories, and in Kowloon, respectively, and will feature different themes, including youth elements, cooking demonstrations, performances, and children’s playgrounds.
The first Gourmet Marketplace will take place at Hall 3G of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, Wan Chai, on 29th and 30th April. The event will feature international delicacies, Chinese cuisines, and local flavours. Members of the public can obtain admission tickets and join the event for free. The Home Affairs Enquiry Centres across 18 districts will start to distribute free tickets from 8am on 26th April. Each person may collect up to two tickets while stocks last. The HAD has reserved some admission tickets for distribution at the venue when the Marketplace takes place.
The second Gourmet Marketplace will take place on 6th and 7th May at the Sha Tin Town Hall Plaza and Sha Tin Park. The Marketplace will feature Chinese cuisines and local flavours and is free for entry without the need for admission tickets.
The third Gourmet Marketplace will be held on 3rd and 4th June at the harbour-front VESSEL, Kwun Tong, under the theme of Asian cuisines plus wine and dine. The event is free for entry without the need for admission tickets.
The “Happy Hong Kong” Campaign was announced in the 2023-24 Budget by the Financial Secretary, with a focus on activities relating to gourmet experiences, fun amusements, and exciting ambience for the general public. One of the highlights is the launch of Gourmet Marketplaces in various locations by the HAD for members of the public to enjoy leisure during weekends.
