25th September 2023 – (Hong Kong) At 9.20am today, a group of over ten workers took to the streets right across from Grand Business Plaza at 153 Wai Yip Street, Ngau Tau Kok. They strategically placed plastic barriers on the road, raised banners, and stepped onto the thoroughfare to demand their overdue wages. As a result, two lanes heading towards Kwun Tong were blocked, causing vehicles to navigate through the express lane only. The involved construction company has dispatched representatives to mediate the situation, but the exact cause of the incident is still under investigation.

The protest on Wai Yip Street has caused disruption and inconvenience to both commuters and motorists in the area. The workers, who claim to have not received their rightful pay, have resorted to this public demonstration to draw attention to their plight. It is unclear at this time how long the protest will continue or how many workers are affected by the wage dispute.

Representatives from the construction company are actively engaging with the protesting workers in an attempt to resolve the issue and address their grievances. The company’s involvement in the mediation process indicates a willingness to find a solution and potentially resolve the matter amicably. However, the underlying reasons behind the delayed wage payments have yet to be fully understood.
