Worker seriously injured in concrete mixer truck mishap at Hong Kong airport construction site

30th May 2024 – (Hong Kong) At approximately 1.22pm today, a severe accident occurred at the construction site of the third runway at Hong Kong International Airport. A concrete mixer truck tipped over to its right side, trapping the driver underneath its heavy wheelbase.

Rescue teams were dispatched promptly upon receiving the distress call from fellow workers. Using specialised equipment, the rescuers managed to lift the wheelbase and gradually extricate the trapped driver. Despite his ordeal, the driver was conscious when rescued but suffered a fractured pelvis and injuries to his legs.

The injured man was immediately transported to Princess Margaret Hospital in Kwai Chung for urgent medical treatment. Observers at the scene reported that concrete was seen leaking from the overturned vehicle, highlighting the severity of the incident.
