8th June 2023 – (Hong Kong) A woman was stabbed in an unprovoked attack inside a pedestrian tunnel in Wong Tai Sin this evening. The victim sustained knife injuries to her thigh and leg and was rushed to the hospital, while the assailant remains at large.

At around 8pm today, the police received a report that a woman was attacked with a cleaver by a man in his forties while walking in a pedestrian tunnel near Exit C1 of the MTR Choi Hung Station. The victim was seriously injured in the attack. The witness who reported the incident had been following the suspect. When the police and ambulance arrived at the scene, they found that the suspect had fled and abandoned the cleaver in a nearby street market.

The victim was injured on her arms and thighs but remained conscious. She was taken to the United Christian Hospital by ambulance for treatment. Police officers with shields were deployed to the area to search for the suspect and conduct an investigation.

The pedestrian tunnel where the attack took place was cordoned off for investigation. Bloodstains were found on the walls and floor of the tunnel, and a knife and its packaging were found on the ground. It is unclear whether the knife is related to the incident.

The victim, a female employee of a frozen meat shop in the Ngau Chi Wan Market, was attacked on her way home from work, and there is no information to suggest that she knew the suspect. After the attack, the suspect fled the scene and boarded a minibus.

As of 9.30pm, police have called in police dogs to assist in the search, and they have followed a trail of scent from the crime scene to the Ngau Chi Wan Market. Other officers are reviewing CCTV footage from a nearby minibus station to try to identify the suspect.

According to the report, the recent case of injury was not a random attack but suspected to be related to a dispute between two rival chain food stalls. The competition between the two stalls is fierce, with each opening their store right next to the other. There have been previous incidents of disputes over store locations, employees, and business. The two stalls have also been involved in multiple assault cases in the past. After a year, the police do not rule out the possibility that the incident is a continuation of the dispute between the two food stalls. According to sources, the boyfriend of the injured victim is a shop owner of a food stall near the pedestrian tunnel in Ngau Chi Wan.
