3rd October 2026 – (Hong Kong) A suspected near‑drowning was reported off Yu On Street in Tai Po at about 12.32pm when a boat operator alerted authorities to a woman seen floating in the water. The 28‑year‑old, surnamed Law, was brought ashore at Sam Mun Tsai Pier and taken by ambulance to Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital, where she was said to have regained consciousness.
Officers searched the surrounding area and recovered a backpack at the Tai Po Waterfront Park Pier believed to belong to the woman. Initial enquiries suggest she had been exercising nearby before entering the water, where she is thought to have felt unwell and fainted.
