8th April 2019 – (Hong Kong) A group of elderly was duped into paying HK$220 per person to go on a day trip to Po Toi Island. A woman named Winnie has organised a tour to Po Toi, an outlying island located on the South-east side of Hong Kong scheduled on 24th March 2019. The tour fare was HK$220 each inclusive of HK$50 membership fee. Around 12 people paid for the packages.
One day before the excursion, some participants called Winnie to ask if the trip was confirmed as the weather conditions were bad. She did not respond to them and hence, everyone proceeded to wait at TST pier on 24th March but Winnie failed to turn up. She later arranged to meet up with the participants on 28th March at Mong Kok MTR station for refund but she again failed to appear.
The no-show saga continued the third time when Winnie requested to meet up with them on 4th April in a Mong Kok restaurant. The participants then decided to report the case to Mong Kok police station and Tseung Kwan O police station respectively. Police are currently investigating the case.
