7th June 2023 – (Hong Kong) Win’s Engineering (HK) Company Limited was fined $60,000 at the Eastern Magistrates’ Courts today for violating the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance. The prosecutions were launched by the Labour Department.
The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on 9th December, 2020, at a construction site in Stanley, where two workers were dismantling a metal hoarding. The collapsed portion of the hoarding pressed the two workers, resulting in one worker’s death and the other’s injury. The court found Win’s Engineering (HK) Company Limited in violation of the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance and imposed a fine of $60,000.
