4th May 2021 – (Hong Kong) At 6.45pm, Hong Kong Observatory issued a warning that widespread heavy rain may affect Hong Kong in a couple of hours. Members of the public should be on the alert. Thunderstorm warning was issued at 7.05pm and amber rainstorm warning was issued at 7.15pm.
The Rainstorm Warning Signal is now Amber. This means that heavy rain has fallen or is expected to fall generally over Hong Kong, exceeding 30 millimetres in an hour, and is likely to continue.
There will be flooding in some low-lying and poorly drained areas. People who are likely to be affected should take necessary precautions to reduce their exposure to risk posed by the heavy rain and flooding.
Thundery showers associated with a trough of low pressure over inland Guangdong is moving southwards gradually. It is expected to affect the coastal areas tonight. Locally, the weather was hot in the afternoon. Temperatures over many places rose to 31 degrees or above.
There will be occasional showers tonight and tomorrow morning. Showers will be heavy at times and there will be a few squally thunderstorms. Showers will ease off and there will be sunny intervals during the day tomorrow. Temperatures will range between 24 and 30 degrees.
