23rd August 2019 – (Hong Kong) The recent anti-extradition protests have resulted in polarisation in the society. Many companies have chosen to dismiss or suspend staff that support the pro-democracy cause. Some restaurants were boycotted because they dismissed their staff unreasonably due to their political stand.

A netizen recently developed a new app called ‘WHATSGAP’ which foodies can locate restaurants that share similar political stand so that they can dine at ease. You can choose from three different areas i.e. New Territories, Kowloon and Hong Kong island for dine-in or take away food and also their GPS location. Restaurants where netizens have boycotted before are also shown on the app.

In addition, users can update more information on the restaurants themselves to show their political standpoint. Latest monthly recommendations are also displayed.
