20th March 2019 (Hong Kong) Whampoa is famous for its surreal cruise ship ‘shopping mall’ and it is one of the largest private housing estates in Hong Kong. This grid style housing estate is unique as it has a beautiful waterfront facing Northpoint.
We would suggest that you take ferry from North Point To Hung Hom pier as you can then stroll along the scenic promenade while enjoying the sea breeze. The promenade offers unobstructed view of North Point in the distance, a break from the usual skyline at Central. There is also a huge Starbucks near the pier and the Kerry Hotel is a must-visit if you want to spend the afternoon sipping tea away.
Located on the Kowloon’s vibrant waterfront, at the heart of Hung Hom Bay, is Kerry Hotel which has a rooftop garden and Big Bay Cafe which offers panoramic sea view and fusion food. We love their Thai papaya salad (HK$138) and smoothie drinks.
Kerry Hotel, Hong Kong is only a few steps away from Tsim Sha Tsui East shopping district. 350 m away from Whampoa MTR station, the hotel is seamlessly connected to the rest of Hong Kong via underground train, ferry, bus, taxi and limousine services. Hong Kong International Airport is 40 minutes’ car journey away.
Proceed to walk towards the Wonderful Worlds of Whampoa which resembles a big cruise ship. The huge mall contains 300 shops, 50 restaurants, five supermarkets, and entertainment facilities if you enjoy window shopping. We are more interested in walking around the gigantic ship then shopping as we believe other areas in Hong Kong offer better options for varieties.
