20th November 2022 – (Hong Kong) A netizen uploaded a dash cam footage taken from a motorcycle on social media, showing that he recently drove a motorcycle through Western Harbour Crossing. During this period, he took out a hundred-dollar bill from his pocket to pay the tunnel toll fare of HK$25, but the toll collector gave him back a change of HK$25. After reminding the staff member, the other party claimed that the motorcyclist only paid HK$50 to her at that time, and contacted the office colleagues through the toll booth intercom, requesting to check the CCTV footage to verify the amount.
During the period, the toll collector allegedly acted calm and wiped the table and stool in the toll booth. She responded after about two minutes and insisted that she only received HK$50 from the victim at that time. The victim was still doubtful but had to leave due to the long queue. After checking his own dash cam footage, he finally confirmed that he paid HK$100 bank note to the toll operator and the footage was shared on social media.
Netizens expressed that the incident involved fraudulent element and questioned if the staff member really checked the CCTV footage. They suggested him to write to the toll operator to claim back the money and report the case to police.
