“WARHOLS MAKOS: ANDY LOVES HK” exhibition at Landmark Atrium

3rd September 2022 – (Hong Kong) It has been 40 years since legendary pop artist Andy Warhol’s first and only visit to Hong Kong. To mark this special occasion, LANDMARK and SAUVEREIGN present the collaboration, “WARHOLS MAKOS: ANDY LOVES HK” in association with renowned photographer, Christopher Makos.The line-up offers an insight into almost two decades of Warhol’s life through five major themes: Andy Loves HK, Andy in Nature, Andy Rowing, Andy: Modelling Days, and Lady Warhol. The preview exhibition of photographs will feature a total of 11 sets of never-before-seen imagery from the duos’ tour of Hong Kong back in 1982. From now to 12th September, The WARHOL MAKOS: ANDY LOVES HK installation is on view above the fountain, whilst the photo exhibition is available for preview at the second floor of LANDMARK ATRIUM until 18th September 2022. ​

Christopher Makos (born 1948, in Lowell, Massachusetts) is an American photographer and artist. He apprenticed with photographer Man Ray in Paris and collaborated with Andy Warhol, whom he showed how to use his first camera.

He introduced Warhol to the work of both Jean-Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring. Makos’s work has been in the permanent collections of more than 100 museums and major private collections, including those of Malcolm ForbesPedro Almodóvar, and Gianni Versace.

His photographs of Warhol, Haring, Tennessee Williams, and others have been auctioned regularly at Sotheby’s. Warhol called Makos the “most modern photographer in America”.
