2nd July 2026 – (Beijing) China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi has called on the United States to approach Taiwan‑related matters with “utmost prudence” during a telephone conversation with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio. According to a statement released on Tuesday, 30th June, both sides described the discussion as positive and constructive. They agreed to implement the important consensus previously reached by the two heads of state and to maintain communication through flexible channels.
Wang, a member of the Communist Party of China’s Politburo, said that developing a constructive and strategically stable relationship between Beijing and Washington reflects the aspirations of both peoples and meets the expectations of the international community. He added that such stability serves the fundamental interests of both countries.
He stressed that building this form of relationship must go beyond rhetoric and be translated into sustained, practical efforts. Wang said the two nations should expand areas of cooperation and create a broader agenda for positive engagement, while narrowing differences and managing potential risks. Highlighting Taiwan as a particularly sensitive issue, Wang warned that developments concerning the island could have far‑reaching implications, urging Washington to exercise extreme caution in handling related affairs.
