Wanderlust Picnic Guide : The Art Park at West Kowloon Cultural District

25th August 2020 – (Hong Kong) Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many beaches under LCSD are closed and citizens have been advised to stay at home. However, by maintaining proper social distancing, the public can still visit parks with amazing views in Hong Kong such as Kai Tak Runway Park and The Art Park at West Kowloon Cultural District.

The Art Park and waterfront promenade in West Kowloon offers stunning views of Victoria Harbour and Hong Kong Island, it is perfectly located for gorgeous sunset photographs and picnics. The park is also dog-friendly.

The Art Park is the green heart of the cultural district, with a rich variety of trees and green planting as well as open lawn spaces for leisure and relaxation. You can picnic, play games, walk pets, run, or hire and ride a SmartBike while enjoying picture perfect views of the harbour and Hong Kong island. You can also enjoy a meal or a drink in one of the harbour-side restaurants and cafes which are open during the pandemic. The new section of the waterfront promenade also gives a taster of how the future promenade that will extend all along the district from Tsim Sha Tsui will look like.

The Art Park provides a vibrant venue for open-air performances as well as art exhibitions and other cultural events.

Located here are two venues, the M+ Pavilion, M+’s home for exhibitions while the M+ building is under construction, and Freespace, our new centre for contemporary performing arts, housing Hong Kong’s largest black box theatre, The Box, and the Livehouse a cafe/bar.
