If you haven’t been to The High Island Geo Trail, at the High Island Reservoir east dam, you are missing out the best hiking gem of HK. We highly recommend you take the long route by walking from Pak Tam Chung (10km) as you will be able to enjoy breathtaking views of the clear blue lake before you reach the Reservoir.
This is the best location to observe Hong Kong’s hexagonal rock columns (a Unesco’s site). This site also features other interesting geological structures and features like faults, distorted columns and an intrusive dyke.
