Violence erupts at ‘BOOMERANG – The illusionist’ Club in LKF Tower, leaving 2 local men and a Polish national injured (Update: 4.10pm)

1st April 2023 – (Hong Kong) Another violent incident occurred at a bar in the heart of Lan Kwai Fong. The altercation took place at a bar located at  Shop 1 & 2, LG/F, LKF Tower, 55 D’Aguilar Street, Central where a group of customers got into an argument that quickly escalated into a brawl. Witnesses reported that the patrons were drinking heavily and began calling their friends to join in the fight, leading to a chaotic scene that soon spiralled out of control.

Videos captured at the scene show a group of more than 10 people shouting and throwing objects at each other, including glass bottles. Some were even seen wielding bottles as weapons. In an attempt to calm the situation down, bar staff could be heard using a loudspeaker to appeal for calm, but their efforts proved fruitless as the situation continued to escalate. The police were eventually called in and quickly arrived at the scene.

Upon arrival, the police turned on the lights and ordered everyone to leave the bar. The floor was covered in broken bottles and spilled alcohol, and the authorities had to question those involved in the fight to piece together what had happened. Three male individuals were found to have sustained injuries, and they reported not knowing each other prior to the incident.

In response, police confirmed receiving a report at 3.25am today (1st) that a fight had broken out at a bar. Upon preliminary investigation, it is suspected that a patron was hit with a glass bottle upon returning from the restroom and then retaliated by throwing a bottle and starting the brawl.

Three people were injured in the incident: a 23-year-old man surnamed Yue who suffered head injuries and was bleeding, a 25-year-old man surnamed Wong, and a 28-year-old foreign man holding a Polish passport, both of whom suffered head injuries and were bleeding from the forehead. All three individuals claim to be strangers to each other and were conscious when they were sent to Queen Mary Hospital by ambulance for treatment.

The police are treating the case as “assault causing actual bodily harm” and no one has been arrested yet. The reason for the dispute is still under investigation. It is reported that similar fights have occurred at the bar from time to time.

Police arrived at the scene to investigate.
