24th September 2023 – (Hong Kong) In a targeted operation against prostitution, the Special Duties Unit of Mong Kok district conducted a crackdown today (23rd) at noon. Two units on Nathan Road were raided, resulting in the arrest of three women. Among them, a 51-year-old local woman was apprehended on charges of “controlling others for the purpose of engaging in illegal sexual activities or prostitution.” Authorities believe she is a key member of a prostitution syndicate. The other two women, aged 31 and 33, from mainland China, were arrested for “violating stay conditions.” They are currently detained for further investigation.
The operation yielded significant findings as law enforcement personnel seized approximately HK$4,000 in cash, a quantity of condoms, and mouthwash. Preliminary investigations indicate that the criminal syndicate likely utilized online social media platforms to promote illicit sexual services. This operation appears to have dismantled a suspected online prostitution ring operating through social media.
