26th September 2023 – (Hong Kong) In an annual tradition that fans eagerly anticipate during the Mid-Autumn Festival, veteran host and diva Liza Wang, recently unboxed a gift box of mooncakes. The highlight of this event was undoubtedly the mooncake gift box presented by singer Miriam Yeung. The significance of Miriam’s gift box stems from the controversy surrounding the traditional white lotus seed mooncakes she gave to Wang in 2020, which were criticised as being too ordinary for a legendary singer like Wang.
Meanwhile, it was revealed that Miriam herself indulged in luxury brand mooncakes from Dior, Alexander McQueen, and LV, leading to accusations of her lack of etiquette and causing a PR disaster. In an attempt to make amends, Miriam has stepped up her game in the past two years, ensuring that the Mid-Autumn Festival gift boxes she presents to Wang are of higher quality, which has been well-received by fans.
In 2020, Miriam was criticised by netizens for giving Wang ordinary traditional mooncakes.
This year, Wang continued the tradition of unboxing the mooncake gift box from Miriam. Miriam’s gift for this year’s Mid-Autumn Festival was the Rosewood gift box, which Wang praised for its exquisite packaging. She also mentioned that despite Miriam and her family residing in mainland China in recent years, they still hold Wang close to their hearts. Touched by the gesture, Wang expressed her gratitude, saying, “To think that even from such a distant place, you still think of me and send me gifts. Thank you so much!”
The gift box contained champagne, seafood, tea leaves, abalone, XO sauce, chocolates, egg rolls, and four mooncakes, making a total of eight items. To add to the festive atmosphere, the mooncake box also featured riddles for guessing lantern riddles. However, Wang admitted that she couldn’t solve them and jokingly called herself “ignorant,” displaying her delightful and charming personality.
