12th February 2024 – (Washington) U.S. Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin was admitted to the hospital on Sunday due to symptoms indicating a critical bladder issue, as confirmed by the Pentagon.

Around 2.20pm (1920 GMT) on Sunday, Secretary Austin was transported to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center by his security detail, as stated in a release from the Department of Defense.

In light of his hospitalisation, Secretary Austin has temporarily delegated his responsibilities to his deputy, as announced by the Pentagon.

It is worth noting that Secretary Austin previously received a diagnosis of prostate cancer in December, which led to his hospitalization at that time.
