9th August 2022 – (Macao) Macao Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau announced this morning that Typhoon Signal No.1 is still in effect. The present signal will be replaced by Typhoon Signal No.3 at 11.30am shortly. The local winds will strengthen. At 10am, the tropical depression is located about 640 km south-southwest of Macao and moves toward the western coast of Guangdong province. As the winds over the bridges are expected to be strong and gusty, drivers are advised to pay attention to traffic safety. Motorcyclists should travel between Macao Peninsula and Taipa Island through motorcycle lane on Sai Van Bridge.
Typhoon Signal No.8 may be issued later tonight.
The tropical depression over the central part of the South China Sea is intensifying gradually and moving generally towards the western coast of Guangdong to Hainan Island. Under the influence of the broad circulation, its rainband will bring unsettled weather to Macao. Winds will intensify and reach strong wind level at Beaufort scale 6-7 with gusts and occasional heavy showers and thunderstorms.
