12th August 2022 – (Hong Kong) Two 19-year-old and 18-year-old youths participating in a protest in Sheung Shui on 14th November 2019 were accused of manslaughter of a 70-year-old cleaning worker surnamed Lo in Sheung Shui in November 2019. On 13th November 2019, both men were also charged for intentionally, illegally and maliciously injuring X, a 63-year-old man, and participated in a riot near North District Town Hall in Sheung Shui.
The jury of the High Court ruled on the 12th of last month that the two were not guilty of manslaughter and intentional wounding, but both of them were convicted of rioting. They were sentenced by Judge Esther Toh to five and a half years each in prison this morning (12th).
