Two separate suicide incidents reported at Choi Hung Estate and On Ning Garden, investigations underway

26th September 2023 – (Hong Kong) At approximately 5am today, a female resident of Luk Ching House, Choi Hung Estate, made a distressing discovery and promptly reported it to the authorities. She found a woman hanging from a ribbon in the staircase of the building. Rescue personnel swiftly arrived at the scene and managed to free the unconscious individual from the precarious situation. The victim was immediately transported by ambulance to United Christian Hospital for medical attention. Authorities discovered a suicide note at the scene and are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the 53-year-old woman named Chan’s attempt to take her own life.

Meanwhile, at 7.03am today, another incident occurred at On Ning Garden in Hang Hau, where a middle-aged man fell from a height and landed on the ground near the neighbouring building. Rescue teams promptly responded to the call and upon examination, confirmed the man’s demise. His body was covered with a tent for privacy. No suicide note was found at the scene, and after further investigation, it was revealed that the deceased, an 80-year-old man named Wong, resided in the same building. It is believed that he fell from a unit within the building, but the exact cause of his death is pending confirmation through a post-mortem examination.
