Two men arrested on suspicions of drugging and rape, 28-year-old suspect also charged with theft, male officer to be suspended from duty

17th March 2023 – (Hong Kong) A shocking and heinous homicide case has come to light, unraveling in a room at the Best Western Plus Hotel Kowloon Tsim Sha Tsui on Wednesday, the 15th of this month. As per reports, the male victim in question was believed to have been subjected to “date rape” drugs, which led to their unfortunate demise. To add to the horror, the victim’s mobile phone was also stolen. However, the case didn’t end there.

In the course of police investigations, another mainland Chinese male victim was discovered, who had also fallen prey to the same modus operandi of being drugged. The gravity of the situation was not lost on the police force, who sprung into action immediately.

The West Kowloon Serious Crime Unit, as a part of their diligent efforts, apprehended two suspects, namely, a 28-year-old man with the surname ‘Au’ and a 31-year-old police officer named ‘Lok,’ who is a member of the West Kowloon Emergency Unit. They have been taken into custody on suspicion of facilitating illegal sexual activities through the administration of drugs. The 28-year-old Au has also been charged with theft.

It has been revealed that the 31-year-old suspect is a police officer, who will now be suspended from duty. Upon further investigation, it has come to light that the 28-year-old man allegedly stole a man’s mobile phone from a room at Best Western Plus Hotel Kowloon in Tsim Sha Tsui on Tuesday, the 14th of this month. Subsequently, on the next day, both the suspects were involved in administering drugs to another Chinese man in another room at Kowloon Hotel in TST, leading to their arrest and detention.

The police force, in no uncertain terms, has reiterated their commitment to maintaining the highest standards of conduct from their personnel. They have made it abundantly clear that any transgressions of the law will not be tolerated, and the guilty parties will be dealt with severely.
