Trio detained for assaulting 51-year-old man in Chungking Mansions


1st March 2024 – (Hong Kong) Hong Kong police have apprehended three men following an altercation in Chungking Mansions that resulted in the assault of a 51-year-old man. The incident, rooted in what has been described as “attitude issues,” occurred on Wednesday and led to the victim, an Indian national, reporting the violent encounter to the authorities.

According to the victim’s account, the dispute escalated when he was attacked by individuals equipped with baseball bats, umbrellas, and wooden sticks. Following the assault, the assailants absconded from the scene.

In response, the Yau Tsim police district’s anti-triad squad initiated an investigation, leading to the detention of three Indian men, whose ages range from 23 to 36, in the areas of Yau Ma Tei and Tsim Sha Tsui.

These individuals are now in police custody, awaiting further proceedings.
