Training Centre Orders and 30-40-month imprisonment sentenced against 9 defendants for participating in 2019 riot


15th January 2022 – (Hong Kong) During the anti-government clash between rioters and police outside Diocesan Girls’ School in Jordan, on 18th November 2019, 8 men and 1 woman were arrested for allegedly participating in a riot. After the 9 defendants denied the charges, they were all convicted last month in the District Court. Judge Lin Weiquan adjourned the sentence to today (15th) after hearing the plea. As a result, Training Centre Orders were imposed on two of the defendants and the remaining seven were sentenced to 38 to 40 months in prison.
