16th February 2024 – (Hong Kong) MTR Corporation reported an incident involving an individual entering the track area near MTR Lai King Station. As a result, trains on the Tung Chung Line and Airport Express are currently required to operate at reduced speeds in that section. Passengers travelling on these lines should anticipate an additional 10 to 15 minutes of travel time and are advised to allocate ample time for their journeys.

The incident, which occurred at approximately 10.45am today, has prompted MTR Corporation to take precautionary measures to ensure passenger safety. By implementing slower speeds, they aim to mitigate any potential risks associated with the unauthorized presence on the tracks near Lai King Station.

The disruption caused by this incident has led to delays on both the Tung Chung Line and Airport Express services. Passengers relying on these lines for their daily commutes or airport transfers may experience longer travel times during this period. MTR Corporation urges passengers to plan their journeys accordingly, allowing for extra time to reach their destinations.

In addition to the incident at MTR Lai King Station, there is another noteworthy development affecting Airport Express passengers. The pre-check-in service deadline for city-bound Airport Express passengers has been extended from 90 minutes before flight departure to 120 minutes before flight departure until further notice. This adjustment aims to ensure that passengers have sufficient time to complete the necessary check-in procedures at the airport.
