21st November 2023 – (Hong Kong) At 9.46am today, a 5.5-ton truck collided with a male pedestrian in Kwai Shing West Estate shopping centre, resulting in a fatal accident. The victim was trapped beneath the vehicle and despite rescue efforts by the fire department, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Upon receiving the report, the police arrived promptly, covering the body with a white cloth and initiating an investigation. The deceased, identified as an 85-year-old man, was struck by the truck driven by an approximately 50-year-old driver who remained present to assist with the investigation.
According to eyewitnesses, the driver of the truck was the owner of a restaurant located within Kwai Shing West Estate shopping centre. This morning, as he arrived at the unloading area, a tragic sequence of events unfolded. While reversing the vehicle, the elderly man was struck and knocked down by the truck, seemingly unnoticed by the driver. Regrettably, the victim was further tragically run over by the truck’s wheels.
