5th December 2023 – (Bangkok) Abus lost control and collided with a tree in southern Thailand, leading to the loss of at least 14 lives and causing injuries to 20 others. The state-owned enterprise Transport Company Ltd. released a statement on Tuesday providing details of the tragic event.
According to the statement, the accident took place in Prachuap Khiri Khan province at approximately 12.30am local time on Tuesday. Earlier reports from local media had initially stated that 14 people had died and 35 were injured. However, the bus operator later revised the figures downwards to confirm 14 fatalities and 20 injuries.
The ill-fated bus had been en route from the capital city of Bangkok to the Nathawi district in Songkhla province when the incident occurred. The victims of the accident were swiftly transported to nearby hospitals for medical treatment, as stated in the official statement. Authorities have already initiated investigations to determine the cause of the tragic collision.
