Traffic disruption as Plover Cove Road in Tai Po encounters muddy waters

25th June 2024 – (Hong Kong) At around 6.14am, a road subsidence occurred along a stretch of Plover Cove Road in Tai Po, near Kwong Ping House in Kwong Fuk Estate. As a result, a small amount of mud and groundwater surged onto the road, impeding the flow of traffic. Reports indicate that bus services have been affected, requiring temporary route diversions. Thankfully, no injuries were sustained during the incident.

Authorities swiftly responded to the situation by cordoning off the affected area, ensuring the safety of motorists and pedestrians alike. Relevant departments have been alerted and are mobilizing personnel to the scene to initiate the necessary repairs to restore the road surface.

Similarly on the afternoon of 8th May 2023, the police received a report from a driver stating that a suspected burst water pipe had occurred along Plover Cove Road. A significant amount of muddy water surged out, covering the lanes, and a sinkhole measuring 5 meters by 5 meters appeared.
