1st December 2021 – (Hong Kong) The century-old Romanesque underground reservoir in Sham Shui Po was nearly demolished last year and was finally rated as a first-class historic building. The Water Supplies Department announced on 25th November that following January’s successive temporary reinforcement, consolidation and protection works for the service reservoir, guided tours will be opened for citizens on the 15th of December and citizens can make an appointment as soon as possible on the 1st of next month. It is tentatively scheduled to be open for a period of six months. Later, it will be arranged according to response and demand. At present, each tour group has a maximum of 12 visitors and the visit will be conducted in the form of a 90-minute guided tour. It is estimated that the total number of visitors per month will be about 1,000.
As of today, individual applications are all full on the online booking system for the next two months.
