Thousands gather at Chater Garden to sing Glory to Hong Kong, human chain reaches Ice House Street in Central

Thousands gathered at Chater Garden at 7.15pm.

17th November 2019 – (Hong Kong) A few hundred protesters gathered at Chater Garden in Central this afternoon to participate in the ‘Glory to Hong Kong’ movement to pray for those who were injured during the protests. Participants observed one minute of silence at 3.50pm. There were many who waived the United States and Union Jack flags. Placards with captions ‘Don’t kill young people anymore!’ and ‘Go after police officers, return justice to us!’ were held by protesters. They were also shouted anti-government, anti-police slogans and sang ‘Glory to Hong Kong’.

At around 4.55pm, protesters started to form human chain from Chater Garden to Government Headquarters. At least 40 riot police officers were on standby at Lower Albert Road and Garden Road. The human chain reached Ice House Street from government Headquarters at 6pm.

The total number of protesters grew to thousands at 7.15pm at Chater Garden.
