2nd July 2026 – (Hong Kong) TEDxTinHau Women will celebrate its 10th edition on Friday, 2nd October 2026, with its most ambitious programme to date at the Xiqu Centre in Hong Kong’s West Kowloon Cultural District.
Organisers have unveiled a line-up of 13 speakers delivering 11 talks — the largest in the event’s history. Representing six countries and eight languages, the speakers span generations from their twenties to their sixties. In addition to the talks, the event will once again host its popular community fair, offering participants opportunities to connect with local brands, community partners and fellow attendees.
A new feature, titled “Quests”, will debut this year. These small-group workshops and curated excursions, led by specialists in their fields, are designed to extend the experience beyond the main stage. The sessions aim to spark curiosity, encourage deeper engagement and foster unexpected connections among participants.
The 2026 theme, “UNCHARTED”, invites audiences to venture beyond familiar boundaries and consider fresh perspectives that emerge when exploring the unknown. Drawing inspiration from Tin Hau, the Chinese sea goddess after whom the chapter is named, the concept also reflects Hong Kong’s maritime heritage and enduring spirit of adaptation. Like the ocean itself, the theme symbolises transformation, possibility and discovery — values closely aligned with the TEDx ethos of sharing ideas that open new intellectual horizons.
Among the featured speakers are Angela Wong and William Lo, co-founders of youth-focused basketball initiatives dedicated to empowering girls in Hong Kong. Wong established the Strive Foundation, which integrates elite sports training with academic support and mentorship. Lo, co-founder of the Strive Gold Team, has coached top-tier athletes, including Olympic gold medallist Edgar Cheung. Together, the husband-and-wife team will examine the resilience and mental fortitude required to compete at the highest levels of sport, as well as the barriers shaped by socio-economic background.
Launched in 2009, TEDx operates as a global platform for independently organised events that deliver TED-style talks at a community level. Many presentations from TEDx gatherings worldwide have later been featured on TED.com, attracting millions of viewers.
As TEDxTinHau Women enters its second decade, organisers say the anniversary edition will embody the spirit of “UNCHARTED” by bringing together distinctive voices and bold ideas, encouraging audiences to navigate new territory — collectively.
