Taxi crashes into truck near Kwun Tong Waterfront Promenade, driver sustains injuries

28th June 2022 – (Hong Kong) At about 4am today (28th), a fish-carrying truck was traveling along the Kwun Tong Bypass towards Mong Kok, near Kwun Tong Waterfront Promenade, and it stopped beside the slow line due to a flat tire. During the period, a taxi driven by a 74-year-old driver crashed into the rear of the truck as he failed to stop in front.

Firefighters arrived at the scene and rescued the unconscious taxi driver who was then taken to hospital. He subsequently regained consciousness and was in serious condition. During the accident, the driver of the truck surnamed Chan (50 years old) was not injured and was present to assist the police in their investigation. Affected by the incident, traffic from the Kwun Tong Bypass towards Mong Kok was disrupted. The cause of the accident remains to be further investigated by the police.
