18th May 2024 – (Taipei) The New Party of Taiwan issued a call on Friday, urging the incoming leader of the region to heed the expectations of the majority of Taiwanese people by prioritising the resumption of cross-Strait exchanges and fostering conditions for peace across the Taiwan Strait.

During a press conference held in Taipei, Wu Cheng-tien, Chairman of the New Party, emphasized that meaningful exchanges are crucial in reducing friction, conflicts, and misjudgments between the two sides of the Strait.

Wu expressed concern over the obstructive actions of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities, accusing them of impeding cross-Strait exchanges due to political self-interest and ideological interference. He emphasized that pursuing “Taiwan independence” would lead to a dead-end.
