5th March 2025 – (Taipei) Taiwanese actor Darren Wang Talu was arrested on 4th March 2025, following allegations of attempted murder related to a violent incident involving a ride-hailing driver and a dispatch worker. Reports from Taiwanese media indicate that Wang was taken into custody by police at his residence in the Da’an District of Taipei, expressing surprise and confusion upon their arrival, questioning, “Haven’t you already been here?”

The incident reportedly stemmed from Wang’s dissatisfaction with a vehicle provided by a ride-hailing platform upon his return to Taiwan. He allegedly hired individuals to assault both the driver and the dispatch worker, resulting in severe injuries for both victims.

Following his arrest, Wang was transferred to the New Taipei District Prosecutors Office for further investigation. His manager acknowledged the situation, stating, “Thank you for your concern. Everything is under investigation.”

This arrest comes on the heels of Wang’s previous legal troubles. In February, he was implicated in a scheme to evade mandatory military service by allegedly purchasing falsified medical documents. This led to an investigation by authorities, and he was subsequently arrested, with bail set at NT$150,000.

Wang’s academic history has also been scrutinised, as he previously attended a military academy in New York before entering the entertainment industry. Despite claiming to have graduated from Juang Jing Vocational High School, it was later revealed that he had enrolled in Toko University, switching majors and extending his time as a freshman, leading to public speculation regarding his educational intentions.
