Suspected professional misconduct linked to 612 Humanitarian Relief Fund lodged with the Law Society


23rd May 2022 – (Hong Kong) The National Security Department of the police earlier arrested five trustees of the “612 Humanitarian Relief Fund”, accusing them of violating the “Hong Kong National Security Law” for conspiracy to collude with foreign forces. Suspected professional misconduct has been lodged with the Law Society. Law Society president CM Chan confirmed today (23rd) that the complaint has been received. As a supervisory body, the Society will handle the complaint according to the established mechanism, and an investigation committee has been established to deal with the incident. However, because the relevant procedures are highly confidential, no details can be disclosed at present but he stressed that the society attaches great importance to the conduct of lawyers and the case will be handled fairly, neutrally, and seriously.
