2nd June 2023 – (Hong Kong) A horrifying slashing incident occurred at Plaza Hollywood in Diamond Hill at 5.14pm pm today, resulting in two deaths. CCTV footage shows a 26-year-old woman being repeatedly stabbed at least 34 times with a knife by a 39-year-old male suspect. Her 22-year-old female friend, who tried to rescue her, was also slashed in the neck. The 26-year-old victim was the first to be certified dead, while her 22-year-old friend was certified dead later. The police have reclassified the case as murder.
According to the latest video footage obtained, the attacker had purchased a sashimi knife from a home furnishing store on the second floor of the mall ten minutes before the attack. He then proceeded to the third floor, where the incident occurred.
According to reports, the 39-year-old attacker was the husband of one of the deceased women, and it is suspected that he attacked his wife’s suspected lover with a knife due to infidelity concerns.
The police have launched an investigation into the incident and have apprehended the suspect. They are currently questioning him to determine the motive for the attack and gather evidence. The police have also urged anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist with their investigation.
