Suicide bomber blows up village building in Hualong Town resulting in at least 5 deaths and 5 injuries

22nd March 2021 – (Hualong Town, Guangzhou) An explosion occurred in Mingjing Village, Hualong Town, Panyu District, Guangzhou City on Monday (22nd) causing many injuries. Many people fell to the ground, and there were bloodstains on the walls and stairs. The local police made an announcement at 8pm this evening about the incident. After a preliminary investigation, the 59-year-old suspect named Hu from Panyu was identified. He brought combustible explosives to a building in the village in the morning and detonated it, killing 5 people including Hu on the spot and injuring 5 others. All the injured have been sent to the hospital for treatment, and the case is still under further investigation.

The fragment shows that the beams, pillars and walls of the house at the explosion site collapsed, the ceiling fell, and an injured victim was lying on the ground. The police issued a report stating that the incident occurred at 10am in the morning. After receiving the report, the police rushed to the scene and worked with the local government to carry out rescue work in coordination with fire and medical departments. It is said that the scene was the office building of the Mingjing Village Committee. A villager living near the village committee building said that he went to check after hearing the explosion. It was suspected that the explosion occurred on the second floor. Many glass panels shattered and the doors and walls inside were all broken. Some people were sent to the hospital for treatment. The staff of Hualong Police Station stated that police officers had been sent to the scene to deal with the situation.

According to sources, a villager who had served as a soldier resented the village official’s inaction who was suspected of being corrupted. He tied a homemade bomb to his body and held the village official hostage before detonating the bomb causing at least 5 deaths and 5 injuries. The case is still under investigation.
