String of store burglaries in Hong Kong results in arrest of Vietnamese suspect

18th June 2024 – (Hong Kong) Police have been investigating multiple cases of store burglaries in the Tseung Kwan O and Wong Tai Sin districts since May. After a thorough examination of CCTV footage and extensive investigation, authorities initiated an arrest operation on the 18th of June. They apprehended a 26-year-old Vietnamese man in Sham Shui Po, who holds a “recognizance paper”. The suspect is believed to be involved in the string of store burglaries.

According to the investigation, the arrested individual is connected to five separate incidents of store burglaries that occurred between the 4th and 15th of May in the Tseung Kwan O and Wong Tai Sin districts. The stolen goods included clothing, daily care products, and health items, with an estimated total value of around HK$14,000. During the operation, law enforcement personnel recovered the suspect’s clothing worn during the commission of the crimes.
