SPCA hosts “Adoption Date” in Wan Chai this Saturday

23rd April 2024 – (Hong Kong) The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Hong Kong) (SPCA) is set to host a significant “Adoption Date” event this Saturday, 27th April 2024, at its Wan Chai Centre. The event, free to the public, aims to address the worrying trends in pet abandonment and low adoption rates that have persisted in the aftermath of the pandemic.

More than 50 animals, ranging from dogs and cats to rabbits and birds, will be showcased, ready to find their forever homes. The event will particularly highlight eight young rescue puppies, recently saved and now ready for adoption, symbolizing hope and renewal for these young lives.

Hong Kong’s SPCA has been at the forefront of animal welfare, providing refuge and rehabilitation to countless animals affected by mistreatment and neglect. However, recent months have seen a distressing rise in the abandonment of cats, a phenomenon possibly linked to the ongoing wave of emigration from the region.
