22nd September 2023 – (Seoul) Popular South Korean actor Song Joong-ki made his first public appearance in Seoul after announcing his marriage and becoming a father earlier this year. The actor, known for his roles in hit dramas and films, attended the media screening and press conference for his latest movie “Hopeless” on the afternoon of 22nd September. The event marked his first public appearance in South Korea since his marriage and the birth of his son.
Song Joong-ki, who tied the knot with British actress Katy Louise Saunders in January, has been enjoying his journey into parenthood. Katy gave birth to a baby boy in their hometown of Italy in June, and Song Joong-ki has been actively involved in taking care of his family. Recently, he returned to South Korea alone to fulfill his professional commitments.
At the media screening and press conference held in Seoul, Song Joong-ki was joined by actress BIBI and actor Hong Si-bin, co-stars of the movie “Chaos.” The actor, wearing his wedding ring on the ring finger of his left hand, expressed his gratitude to everyone for their blessings and support. He said, “I’m glad to have this opportunity to say thank you to everyone. I’m grateful for all the well-wishes. My child is growing up healthy. Both my wife and I are new parents, and we didn’t expect our child to grow up so fast. Living with my child has made me aspire to become a better person. I’m thankful to be able to promote a movie that I really love at this moment.”
Song Joong-ki acknowledged the significance of this movie release, as it marks his return to the big screen after a gap of six years since his previous film “The Battleship Island” in 2017. He revealed that due to the smaller scale and budget of the current movie project, he decided not to take any remuneration. He jokingly said, “I told them to keep it confidential, but someone leaked it, and it became a big issue.” He further shared that he was already interested in the script before receiving the invitation and voluntarily expressed his desire to be a part of the film. However, he was concerned that his involvement might increase the production cost, so he opted not to receive any payment.
