25th November 2023 – (Los Angeles) Sofía Vergara, a familiar and beloved face in the entertainment industry since her rise to fame in ABC’s Modern Family in 2009, has recently dispelled the rumours of undergoing extensive plastic surgery to maintain her looks.
Over the years, her changing appearance, a natural process of ageing, has been scrutinized and attributed to alleged plastic surgeries. However, the 51-year-old actress recently addressed the accusations and set the record straight.
In a candid interview with Glamour magazine, Vergara revealed that she generally tries to avoid messages speculating about her appearance. She admitted, however, that it isn’t always possible to completely ignore such commentary, especially on social media.
She reflected, “It’s usually people that are in a bad mood or depressed or jealous,” accepting that such comments come with the territory of being a public figure. Vergara also confessed to seeing the humorous side of comments about her looks.
In response to claims that she looks different due to plastic surgeries, she retorted with a dash of humour, “It’s not like you have plastic surgery to look worse than before, come on!” She made it clear that her changing appearance is a natural result of ageing, rather than the consequence of surgical alterations.
Despite denying the rumours of going under the knife, Vergara didn’t hold back when it came to discussing the cosmetic procedures she does undertake to maintain her appearance.
“I do micro-needling, little lasers for capillaries because I have rosacea,” she shared, revealing that she regularly gets Botox in her eyes and on her neck.
Interestingly, Vergara doesn’t oppose plastic surgery. She claimed that she simply doesn’t have the time for it amidst her busy schedule. She expressed that she would opt for more procedures if she had the time to recover at home without interrupting her work commitments.
This isn’t the first time Vergara has spoken openly about ageing. She recently confessed to People magazine that she has found it challenging to feel “fresh” in her 50s.
“I’ve had a very interesting year,” she told the publication, choosing not to label the year as ‘bad’, but acknowledging its difficulties. She also talked about her recent separation from Joe Manganiello after seven years of marriage.
