26th April 2019 – CAR Magazine has recently obtained some information on Lamborghini Aventador’s new successor that is based on the Terzo Millennio concept car that was unveiled back in 2017. The bad news is, the new model will only be launched in 2022.
According to the report, the hypercar will be built on a new carbon chassis with 3 major compartments: the front axle drive unit with two electric motors, the rear drivetrain housing a third electric motor, a dual-clutch transmission, V12 engine and batteries in the centre.
The existing V12 in the Aventador SVJ produces 759hp while the new model is expected to churn out a total output of over 1,000hp.
The Chief Technology Officer of Lamborghini, Maurizio Reggiani expressed that “The Aventador replacement will be naturally aspirated and a plug-in hybrid, because this is the best mix of emotion and DNA for Lamborghini. For the moment it is not a problem to be homologated worldwide.”
“For the new Aventador, I am confident we’ll be able to introduce the particulate filters we need for Euro 7 emissions. For these, it is not a question of turbocharging. Instead we will make the hybrid vehicle emotional, sexy, and what the customer will want to have. This is the challenge.”
