23rd December 2024 – (Singapore) Singapore’s core inflation, measured by the consumer price index (CPI), fell to 1.9 per cent year-on-year in November, down from 2.1 per cent in October, according to data released on Monday by the Ministry of Trade and Industry and the Monetary Authority of Singapore.
This decrease is attributed to a moderation in food and services inflation. Despite this decline, the core CPI, which excludes private transport and accommodation costs to provide a clearer picture of household expenses, remained unchanged on a month-on-month basis.
In contrast, the all-items inflation rate rose to 1.6 per cent year-on-year in November, compared to 1.4 per cent in October. This increase was primarily driven by a more gradual decline in private transport costs, which offset the drop in core inflation figures.
