Showers and thunderstorms expected in Hong Kong in next few hours

23rd May 2024 – (Hong Kong) Hong Kong is bracing for showers and thunderstorms as a trough of low pressure affects Shenzhen and the northern part of the South China Sea. The Hong Kong Observatory has issued a warning that showers are expected to intensify over certain areas in the next few hours, urging members of the public to remain vigilant.

The region is experiencing unsettled weather due to the presence of a low-pressure system over the western North Pacific, east of the Philippines. This, combined with the trough of low pressure, is contributing to the current weather conditions along the coast of Guangdong.

The weather forecast for tonight and tomorrow in Hong Kong indicates mainly cloudy skies with intermittent showers and thunderstorms. Some showers are expected to be heavier at times. Temperatures will range between 24 and 27 degrees Celsius, while moderate south to southeasterly winds will prevail.

Looking ahead, Saturday is anticipated to bring continued showers, with a chance of sunny intervals on Sunday. However, the weather is expected to remain unsettled in the following days, indicating the need for continued caution and preparedness.
